How do you actually decide when to sell a stock on the NGX simulation?

Beginner Investing

I've been practicing on the simulator for a few weeks now, and buying feels pretty straightforward, but I get really confused about when I'm supposed to exit. For instance, I picked up some VITAFOAM shares when they dipped, and now they are slightly green, but I have no idea if I should take the small profit or just leave it to grow. How do more experienced learners decide it's time to sell without second-guessing every move?

Exiting a position on the NGX simulator shouldn't be about emotional guesswork; it comes down to pre-defined thresholds based on your initial thesis, risk-to-reward ratios, and broader macroeconomic indicators like inflation or MPR shifts. If you bought VITAFOAM following a mean-reversion dip, your exit strategy should ideally have been mapped out prior to entry—whether that is a specific trailing stop-loss, a target P/E valuation, or a fundamental shift in consumer goods sector performance. When price action reaches your predetermined target or the underlying macro fundamentals change, the decision to trim or liquidate becomes a systematic data point rather than a guessing game.

Ah, I'm so glad you asked this because I'm struggling with the exact same thing on the simulator, especially when I see something like Vitafoam go slightly green and I just freeze up! Do the more experienced learners here usually set a strict percentage target before entering a trade, or is there a specific sign on the NGX charts that helps you decide when it's time to take profits? I really need to figure out how to stop second-guessing every little price movement.
