How do you actually decide when to sell a stock on the NGX simulation?

Beginner Investing

I've been playing around with the trading platform for a couple of weeks now, and buying stocks feels pretty straightforward once you get the hang of the order book. But I'm honestly a bit confused about the exit strategy—how do you know when it's time to take profits or cut losses on something like a Unity Bank or Cornerst trade, especially since prices fluctuate so much during the week? Is there a specific rule of thumb beginners use, or are you just waiting for a certain percentage gain?

I am so glad you asked this because I’ve been wondering the exact same thing while staring at my own simulation portfolio, especially with how fast stocks like Cornerstone fluctuate during the week. Do experienced traders usually set a strict percentage target before buying, or are there specific signals on the NGX board that tell you when it is time to let go? I really need to learn how to set a proper exit strategy instead of just guessing when to lock in profits or cut my losses.

Omo, exit strategy na the real test for this market, especially with how volatile stocks can be during the week. Since this is a simulation, use it to test a strict rule—like taking profit at 10% or cutting losses at 5%—so greed or panic won't hold you hostage. The NGX will always move fast, so learning to take your small wins and move on is the best habit you can build here.
