Understanding Bid Price and Ask Price in Nigeria

Beginner Investing

The bid price and ask price are the two different costs you see when trading shares on the Nigerian Exchange.

In simple words, the bid price is what a buyer is ready to pay, and the ask price is what the seller wants. Beginners should learn how it works on the NGX.

For example, if you check shares of CHAMS, you might see sellers wanting 2 Naira, while buyers offer 1 Naira 90 Kobo.

Remember:

  • The bid is always lower than the ask.
  • A deal happens when both prices meet.
  • Market prices move up and down.

Try it on StocktoWealth: Open your virtual account today and look at the order book for CHAMS to spot these numbers.

This is for learning, not financial advice.
