Should Investors in Their 20s Take More Stock Market Risk Than Those in Their 40s

If I want to invest in my 20s should I take more stock market risk than someone in their 40s.
I hear younger investors should be more aggressive, but I want to understand how age should affect investment decisions and portfolio balance.
